Rider Agreement Summary
You are an independent contractor
You are not an employee of Swoot. You choose when to go online, which deliveries to accept, and you are free to work for other platforms. Since 17 August 2026, Australian law also guarantees you a minimum earnings floor for your engaged time, which we explain in full on the compliance page.
Eligibility
- A current Australian driver licence for any vehicle that legally requires one
- Your own roadworthy vehicle, registered where the law requires registration
- Required vehicle insurance, including delivery-use cover where applicable. We check the policy wording, not just that a policy exists
- A valid ABN
- Right to work in Australia, checked through VEVO before your first shift
- 18 years or older
If you are in Australia under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme, you are generally tied to your approved employer and cannot take other paid work. Please confirm your visa conditions before applying. We will ask about this during onboarding.
Pay
The statutory rate is an earnings floor for engaged time. It is not a flat amount paid for each delivery, and it does not apply while you are online waiting for an offer. Engaged time starts when you accept a delivery and ends when you complete it. Each offer shows its own estimated delivery pay before you decide whether to accept.
Every 7 days, Swoot compares your delivery earnings with your total engaged time multiplied by the floor for your vehicle. We add the difference to your Tuesday payout if your earnings are below that floor. Tipping is not available in the pilot. If added later, it will remain separate and will not reduce a top-up. The calculation and worked examples are on the compliance page.
Insurance
Swoot will not start rider deliveries until the personal accident insurance required by law is in place and verified. Your own vehicle insurance remains your responsibility and must cover delivery use. Joining the pre-launch list does not mean either check has passed.
Pilot deliveries are offered one at a time
During the pilot, each offer covers one delivery. Swoot will not batch two or three customer deliveries into one offer. You see the pickup, approximate delivery location, required details and estimated pay before you decide whether to accept.
Working in Victoria and NSW
Before any delivery into Euston, you must complete the NSW food-delivery induction and have the required training verification record and high-visibility PPE. If you use an e-bike that may cross the bridge, it must meet Victoria's 250 watt continuous power limit and 25 km/h assistance cut-off.
Records and disputes
You can request your engaged time and earnings records at any time through the app. If something looks wrong, raise it with us and we will respond in writing. Deactivation disputes are handled separately, under the Fair Work Act, and you can also contact the Fair Work Ombudsman directly.
Leaving
You may stop working for Swoot at any time, with no notice required and no penalty.
